Here's a quick guide to help you join in on the discussion.
Customizing your front page:
Upon signing up, you are directed to a page which allows you to choose exactly which channels/subforums display on your front page, as well as the position that they appear.
The forum functions a little differently to others alike.
Within Channels are the subforums. Clicking a channel on your front page will display a thread list containing the subforums that exist within it. You’re also able to click an individual subforum and view their threads. Tags indicate the nature of a thread, and you’re also able to click one and be directed to a thread list containing all tags inside of it. For example, posting in the Explorer subforum will require you select one of the explorer branches (eg. Warrior) , and by clicking on a Warrior tag, you are directed to a thread list containing all other threads with the Warrior tag.
Submitting a thread is simple. You can access a button on the left of your front page, or easily access through the header. Creating a thread will require you select a Channel, a Subforum, a Tag, a Thread Title, a Description and whether you would like to include a poll. You can then select a smiley which will display next to your thread on the thread list page.
Submitting Media (Images/Videos):
Similar to posting threads, you’re able to access this through either the sidebar or the header. You must select a Category, Title, Description and Select if you would like your image to possibly be featured on the front page (or simply go directly to your profile).
You’re still able to upload directly from the MS rankings by simply right clicking the image and copying the URL, but for those who would like to show off their creativity without the cost of NX, feel free to upload your own avatar.
Download this template and ensure that your avatar is aligned to it, then upload it in your settings page. The avatar will be approved by a moderator shortly.
For those familiar with reddit, cookies are essentially reddit gold. They’re an alternative when simply ‘liking’ a comment isn’t enough, which will help pay for the servers of the site. Users who receive a cookie will gain many new features, some of which include:
- Posting images in the OP
- Access to a super-secret cookie subforum which may or may not exist.
- Featured image
Want some exposure on your youtube channel or a piece of art? Through the settings page you’re able to upload either an image or post a video URL, which will be displayed on your profile page. Images are approved before they appear on your profile page, while videos are instant.
- Activity Stream
Your activity throughout the site will display here. Post a thread? Left a comment? Liked an image? This information will display here, allowing your followers to see what you have been up to.
- Featured Thread
So, that thread you posted didn’t get as many replies as you had hoped. Well, it will now be featured at the top of your profile page! Anyone who visits your profile will now see (and hopefully click) your thread, gaining more exposure.
I know the frustration that a word filter may cause; I’d love to have none at all. The only issue is that many advertisers require profanity to be non-existent to display their ads. The site wouldn’t be possible without ads.
If you visit a users profile you will notice a follow button under their name. This button will allow you to have their profile comments and latest images/videos displayed compacted into one simple page.
Similar to the maple chat system, you’re able to send messages with ease.
Have a thread you check up on regularly? Avoid the hassle of finding it every time and subscribe. Click on the ‘Subscribed Threads’ text on the front page to display more than 5.
- Bump System
I realise that the userbase of MS is dwindling, and have corrective measures planned for the site if needed. Depending on the success of MS2, the site may convert over from MS1, or possibly into a general gaming forum. However, these changes will not occur until the community is satisfied and has helped with a decision. You, the community are what run this site; so I want to make sure that any large changes are passed by you before being implemented.
